About Me

I am a Toronto based woodworker, furniture maker and designer specializing in high-end, modern custom furniture. I employ time honoured traditional woodworking techniques using a combination of centuries-old hand skills and modern machinery.

With every piece I craft I aim to straddle the line between form and function; to create furniture that fulfills its complete potential, and does so with grace, elegance, and purpose. What I enjoy most about high end woodwork and furniture making is the deep connection that I get to the work, and pouring everything I have into it. The piece becomes my life for often many months and when I see it complete I feel like a proud parent watching their child go off to university.

I like to consider myself an artist, using wood as a medium to tell a story. Every tree is unique and thus every board sawn from them is unique. How they are arranged in a final piece says as much as the piece itself, and I take great care and pride in tracking down the finest lumber and hand selecting each board for a specific purpose. This kind of connection and dedication to the work you won't find on any store's showroom floor.

My personal design aesthetic is quiet, calm, and reflective - much like my personality. I enjoy designs to be subtle and understated yet have a certain presence and visual interest. I enjoy finding ways to make traditional furniture design ideas relevant in the modern era, and I believe it shows in my work.

I have several years of professional experience as a designer and maker of fine furniture, and I am a graduate of both the prestigious year-long Designer Maker Program at the Waters & Acland school in England, and the 12 week Craftsman Program at Rosewood Studio in Perth, Ontario.  In addition, I have also completed specialty, in-depth programs with world-renowned furniture makers, such as Garrett Hack and Adrian Ferrazzutti.

I am always looking to stretch my skills, try something new and I am always up for a challenge.
